Learning about Wiskott-Aldrich BMTs

Fortunately, I came across two stories of unsuccessful BMTs for two boys who had WAS. They are sad stories but I am thankful that the parents shared their trials with the general public. I have learned so much about the BMT process and the risks. These BMTs were done at the Duke University hospital. In both cases, the BMT were unrelated cord blood transfusions. One child died at 18 months (Varun Bhaskaran http://www3.caringbridge.org/nh/varun/ ) and the other was 4 years old (Ian McGahee http://www2.caringbridge.org/ga/ianmcgahee/). I feel so sorry for these parents. They must miss their children like the desert misses the rain.
