David's transfusion appt. lasted 4 hours today 9:30am-1:30pm! Totally ridiculous. The girls did so well. I am so impressed with them. They are such a blessing to me.
I rushed Adira to girls' club all the way on the other side of the bay. Then, rushed David to his cardio. appt. The cardio. doc. wanted to see him before the BMT. His VSD has not changed and there is really nothing he can do for it because it is on the small side, as opposed to needing surgery. He will communicate with the docs. at Stanford to help them understand that David will undergo the BMT with the VSD. The plan is not to fix it at this point. The problem with a VSD and undergoing a BMT, while the immune system is suppressed, is that he could get endocarditis and it would be hard to detect. Infection of the heart is a bad thing. Infection of any kind during a BMT is a huge risk. We'll just hope and pray for the best.
