Drug Change
Dr. Weinburg and the BMT team decided to not use the steroid MPS (methylprednisolone) as a preventive for graft-vs-host disease. Instead, they are using a drug called methotrexate, it's not a steroid but they've had good results with their cancer patients. They want to save the steroid for later if David were to develop GvHD. They said when children are put on steroids early and develop GvHD later, the steroids tend to loose their effectiveness later on.
